Surrounded by forests, fields and heath

Visitors will find outstanding opportunities for an active holiday

Bad Bevensen lies in a gentle-hilly landscape of the northern German lowland. The region is characterized by potato, sugar beet and grain farming, by forests, small heaths, the valley of the Ilmenau and the Elbe lateral canal. Here visitors will find outstanding opportunities for an active holiday including walking, biking or river tours.

Three elevations surrounding Bad Bevensen are covered with forest that provide invigorating clean air. These are the Lohn Forest in the southwest of the town, the Riessel Forest in the west from which many villagers used to get loam for their half-timbered houses, and the Sandschellen Forest to the east with its pine trees. In the north you will find the steep slopes of the Ilmenau which are characteristic for the Amtsheide and Klaubusch forests.
